Description
The latest vintage of our delicious sparkling wine. The Telegraph's wine correspondent, Victoria Moore, described the 2020 as 'a top-notch crémant' in her article on 23 May 2025:
"A top-notch crémant that is elegant, savoury and suave. Made from hand-picked sémillon, this has notes of lemon shortbread and is gorgeous with asparagus."
We think 2021 is a slightly better year for dry white Bordeaux than 2020 and this is no exception. It is a crisp, delicious and moreish aperitif, and ideal for small gatherings or a big event like a wedding or party.
The back label: 'Lovely, sparkling Crémant made in the ‘méthode traditionnelle’, using our hand picked Sémillon grapes from a single block, with a second fermentation in bottle. This dry Blanc de Blancs was aged on its lees for over 24 months for a slightly richer, fuller taste. 11% vol'
Many UK customers don't know we make a Crémant but we actually planted the vineyard for this in 2004, some 20-odd years ago. To date, most of the 10,000 bottle production has gone to Switzerland where it's been very well received (list price chf 19.80 or £17.80). We made 50% more in 2021 so we have a touch more available. We sell it at the château to visitors for €16 a bottle, so the UK price including duty, shipping and delivery is more than fair, we think.
The vines are lovingly tended through to the hand picking in August, with the whole bunches going into the press. The juice is fermented in a chilled stainless steel vat, with a second fermentation in bottle later on by adding yeast and sugar to create the fine bubbles.
