The back label: 'We made these magnums of our Celebration Cuvée to be enjoyed at special events. 2020 was a super vintage and after harvesting our ripe Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, we aged this medium to full bodied and delicious wine in new and one-year old French barrels. 13.5% vol.'
We were lucky enough to attend the wedding of Tom Gilbey's son Freddie in Cornwall in September 2024 and umpteen guests commented how much they enjoyed the red. (Freddie does the videos/reels for @tomgilbeywine on Instagram.)
From Tom Gilbey, tasted again in August 2025:
'This is my favourite of the Bauduc wines. It’s got violets, vanilla, blackberries and balls. In fact, I love this so much, it was the red that we served at my son Fred & Shekinah’s wedding …. in mags and there weren’t many left over afterwards. It’s soft and luscious and slips down…'
From Chris Kissack, aka The Wine Doctor

'Usually only a portion of the blend goes into barrel, but this vintage was matured entirely in oak; this shows on the nose, all sweet fruit and sweet oak, with dark chocolate and confit mint nuances, and a touch of liquorice too. Beautifully textured on the palate, the fruit resembles classically styled dark cherry and currant, with leathery notes, but polished by the oak, before the finely grained tannins begin to show through.
'Poured from magnum alongside the standard bottle format, it slowly opens up to reveal the same salty black olive and tobacco notes, and the same silky integration on the palate, although it ratchets up the texture and confidence just a little, with a more silky and finessed composition, which then yields to the delightfully ripe tannins which come through at the end. I think bottle and magnum show very similarly at this stage, but I suspect if you came back in ten years the magnum would be the better wine. The alcohol is 13.5%. 91/100'
