The Old Collection
A great way to get to know our wines, The Collection is a selection of 6 different bottles. This case contains:
1 bottle Merlot Cabernet 2014
1 bottle Les Trois Hectares Rouge 2012
1 bottle Les Trois Hectares Blanc 2014
1 bottle Rosé 2015
1 bottle Sauvignon Blanc 2015
1 50cl bottle Sauternes 2011
The Merlot Cabernet 2014 is a medium-bodied, tasty Bordeaux blend and the ‘prestige’ house red at Hotel du Vin.
The back label: ‘This is a classic Bordeaux blend of three quarters Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium bodied and partially aged in oak, it’s easy, fruity and supple enough to drink quite young. A French bistro sort of wine.’
The Trois Hectares Rouge is hand picked, lovingly made and aged in French oak. A darkly fruity and powerful blend.
The back label: ‘Made from hand picked Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard, this fairly full-bodied 2011 was aged in French oak barrels. Punching above its weight, it’s best served with roasts and hearty stews. 14% vol.’
The Trois Hectares Blance is an 'Inexpensive white Bordeaux that over-delivers handsomely for the price.' JancisRobinson.com.
The back label: ‘Les Trois Hectares is a single, seven acre block of old Sémillon vines which were planted in 1947, along with some Sauvignon Blanc (about 20%) in the same field. We prefer to drink this dry white with food.’
The Rosé 2015 has been chosen for the front page of Rick Stein’s wine list.
The back label: ‘This Provencal style of rosé was made from 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were harvested earlier than for red, and the juice quickly run off the skins for a pale, dry wine.’
The Sauvignon Blanc is the house white at Gordon Ramsay, Rick Stein and Hotel du Vin. The new 2015 is rich and zesty with a lovely freshness and racy acidity.
The back label: ‘Made from the juice of grapes which were grown, harvested, pressed, fermented and bottled on the estate, this versatile dry white has been the house wine for Gordon Ramsay and Rick Stein for 15 years.’
The Sauternes is rich, honeyed and delicious - by the glass at Gordon Ramsay’s, Rick Stein’s and Hotel du Vin. £13.50 for 50cl.
The back label: ‘This delicious sweet white wine comes from 5 acres of 60 year-old Semillon vines in Sauternes. 2011 was a superb vintage when noble rot naturally shrivelled the grapes and concentrated the juice. Hand harvested, limited production, and great with cheese and puds. 13.5% vol. Appellation Sauternes contrôlée.’
