Back label: 'A classic 70/30 white Bordeaux blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon from some younger vines that surround the chateau. This dry white's great on its own or serve with lighter dishes, salads, fish or chicken.'

Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are the two classic white grapes of Bordeaux. This blend of 70% Sauvignon and 30% Sémillon is from young vines at the château that are still in training for our ’Grands Vins’. Our 2016 Sauvignon Blanc sold out but we still have this really tasty dry white from the excellent 2016 vintage, and it’s drinking very well now - and at a much lower price than our delicious 2017 Sauvignon Blanc. We’ve been drinking quite a lot of this at home but it’s unlikely, despite lots of guests, that we’ll clear it out ourselves.

This note on Instagram from Lucy @hoogervaaner puts it far better than we can (see @chateaubauduc on Instagram/Twitter). “This must be one of the best value wines I’ve tried this year, I can’t believe it comes in at less than £10. It is gorgeous and has loads going on to hold your interest.
“A smoky peachy honeyed nose then crispy apples and citrus on the palate, the finish leaves me with citrus freshness but an undertone of that smoky honey. Did I mention it is the most lovely bright straw gold in the glass?
All that fruit, weight, interest and texture for under £10..... wow! Brilliant @chateaubauduc“

"What I liked about this wine was its crystal clear, particularly precise, piercing nose followed by attractive smokiness and good palate weight. In fact this has so much extract (no excessive yields here) that there is just a tiniest hint of the oiliness of some white Graves, but it rises above this to be a thoroughly fine dry white bordeaux (and it’s much cheaper than most white Graves)… It would make a lovely wine at the table. Excellent value.”
