Les Trois Hectares Rouge 2015 x 1

£15.00

A fairly powerful Bordeaux red, Les Trois Hectares rouge is listed at both Gordon Ramsay's and Rick Stein's.

Description

A small production, flavoursome and full bodied red that was aged in French oak barrels - it can be drunk with pleasure now, or feel free to keep it. Decanting recommended but not essential. £15 a bottle.

A chance to try a single bottle: UK P&P for 1 bottle costs £4.75, 2-12 bottles £9.50. Free P & P for separate 'singles' if you order 4 or more regular 6-packs or Mixed Cases of 6.

The back label: 'A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard, this medium to full-bodied red was aged in French oak barrels. Lovely to drink young or keep it for a few years. Best decanted but not essential.' 14% vol.

See our nifty 'best to drink' graphic on the back label, a few pics from the vineyard below, or our 'Restaurant listings' which show you're in good company.

2015 was a dry year, with every month from March to October being drier than average – except for a wetter August. Crucially, it was pretty dry from 18 Sept-2 Oct for the bulk of the red harvest. 2015 is an excellent vintage, notably for the Right Bank of Bordeaux with some top-notch Merlot-based wines, but unlike other top Bordeaux vintages in 2000, 2005, 2009 and 2010, the harvest brought plenty of anxiety over when to pick. The vines and bunches ended up being extremely healthy at harvest time, and it was a very good vintage - supported by good yields on the reds, if lower on the whites.

The same wine is available 'UK duty free' from our WineCollect.com site: collect from Calais or the Château.

“This is a beautiful château run by London rat-race exiles Angela and Gavin Quinney. They make excellent red, white and rosé, all marked by their sheer drinkability and by their true sense of Bordeaux style. Affordable, approachable, Bordeaux needs another 100 Bauducs – and fast.”
