Description
A lovely, easy drinking Bordeaux that's fully mature and delicious now. 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot blend, aged in stainless steel. A snip for a wine of this age and quality. 13% vol.
Château Cardus is the second wine of Château La Cardonne, a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in the Médoc appellation of Bordeaux. We've drunk our case too quickly so we do need to make another trip up there for more 'samples'.
Andrew McInnes's strategy is a most unusual one for Bordeaux - to cellar his wines until they're ready to be enjoyed (Château Latour are now doing the same). And what a cellar: a vast cathedral-like space comprising hundreds of thousands of bottles at a perfect temperature underground. There are four châteaux under one roof, the other wines being Châteaux Ramafort, Grivière and La Cardonne. The immaculate vineyards outside are at the highest point of the Médoc.
