Back label: ’This Provençal style of dry rosé was made from 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot. The grapes were harvested in September, a bit earlier than for red, and the pale juice quickly run off the dark skins for a lighter wine.’ 12% alc.
Stolen from Rick's wine list: “We made this lighter style of rosé using Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes - with minimal skin contact - it is crisp, dry and fruity. A sort of St.Tropez meets Bordeaux” says Gavin Quinney.’
Pale, a very pretty pink, fruity and dry, this is the house rosé for Rick Stein's growing restaurant empire. Rick, who visited the vineyard recently while filming for his Long Weekends series on BBC2, takes a large chunk of our limited production. As well as a being a lovely summer wine, we drink this all year round with any food that's quite spicy - whether it be a Thai green curry or a pizza with chorizo.
The Cabernet Franc gives the wine its refreshing acidity and a satisfying, mineral edge, while the Merlot plumps it out with a little extra fruitiness. The alcohol is a respectable 12% and not too heavy.
